Job hunting can be tiring. Especially when you’ve applied to multiple platforms, and haven’t heard back from them. It is disheartening to receive a letter of rejection from a platform you’ve wanting to work at for so long. However, it is similarly overwhelming to receive a request for an interview from a company that will become your next breakthrough. 

You received a letter of acceptance from your dream job, and now, it is time to prepare for the interview. It is common to feel nervous and anxious before an interview. What if I told you, that there is a way for you to ace your interview by following certain specific steps? I have compiled a list of things you can do to ace your interview and impress the hiring recruiter in no time!

1. Be Confident

This is probably one of the most overused notions. However, it is also one of the most crucial ones in an interview. Confidence is not forced. It is something that can be practiced a few days before the big day.

One of the most effective ways to sound confident in an interview is practicing the speech in front of a mirror. Do this for a few hours of the day. Practice eye contact and clear communication as well. Before the interview, practice the technique of breathing in and out, thrice, or four times. Always accompany a cold bottle with yourself. Upon instances as such, it is important to do something which makes you feel good about yourself, whether it is to apply minimal makeup (not too dark, otherwise it’d not seem very professional). 

2. Meditation and Yoga

Meditation is one of the best tricks to get rid of the interview anxiety. According to mayo clinic, meditation is extensively helpful in minimizing anxiety, depression, high blood pressure, chronic pain, and heart disease. It will help give you a sense of calmness, peace, and serenity. Interview anxiety can be diminished with the help of both yoga and meditation.

4. Sleep Well the Night Before 

Sleeping well is more critical than you know. Not only does it helps in keeping your mind and thoughts fresh, but it is also helpful in remaining content and calm on the interview day. When you’ve rested well, you’ll be more alert and conscious. 

To maximize your cognitive performance, you need to attain a full eight hours of sleep. During an interview, you will come up with answers more easily if you are well-rested. Another point to be noted is that when you’ve had a goodnight’s sleep, your fresh demeanour will make a good impression on the employer.

5. Be Yourself

IT means to become the best version of yourself, by dressing in an attire that makes you feel good about yourself and speaking calmly to your recruiters. 

To be yourself means not to go to an interview by memorizing answers because chances are that when you are sitting in a room full of recruiters, you might forget the answers you’ve memorized so far. It is better to let your answers flow naturally.

To tell them about yourself, how hard can it be? Tell them about your education, your job experiences, your hobbies, what makes you feel motivated to join the team, and what drives your passion for your profession. All of this might seem easier said than done. But if you throw away that mask of being your most perfect self and embrace who you are by bringing out your positive side without demeaning yourself or making yourself feel inferior, it will give you the freedom to express your thoughts more openly without worrying about anything else you might face.

There is no use in worrying over what has passed. If you were the right candidate in the eyes of the recruiters, there is a high chance, they might call you back for a second interview.
