Sibgha Alam

mohabbat aur uskay aik hazaar rung (love and it’s one thousand colours)

The look in your eyes

I give my breaths away,

let me hold, let me touch

your love.

There’s something more than

time that holds us together –

atoms aligned against

one another, laws of attraction

bending: A love that screams

louder than the loudest

wavelength existing.

Fingertips balancing hearts

so heavy, yellow paint spilling over dreams

sitting inside tunnels

lips almost touching –

let me call you, mine.

Souls wrapping around telephone lines

metaphors existing

as more than words, sentences

not fragmented but sinking

in their wholeness.

Confessions, 3am confessions

naked truths, come home with me

lay with me

till this storm passes.

Glasses resting beside the bed,

to be seen, to see

through love’s blindness –

what a sweet curse, what a delight

to get drunk in your arms.

City of Stars playing beside us, backs turned

sunlight on your honey skin

making a home, our hearts

holding hands underneath.

Clouds go, we let them go

we run beneath crying skies

spilling orange juice all over,

sticky fingers, yours and mine –

just never let go.

This love that chose to breathe

in this moment

within the touch of our mortal lungs,

this love that chose to make

time surrender on its knees –

don’t look away,

Hold my breath within yours

& don’t look away.

We are here, we are

forever.
